LCOY is a youth-led event organized under the umbrella of YOUNGO, the official youth constituency of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). LCOYs serve as national-level gatherings where young people come together to discuss climate issues, develop policy positions, and strategize their participation in the annual United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP).
The outcomes of LCOY Indonesia were delivered at the Conference of Children and Youth (COY) and subsequently at COP events. This conference is tailored to empowering youth through networking and knowledge sharing, connecting annual climate negotiations to local climate action. To engage participants, this includes interactive sessions and workshops, also collecting feedback to improve future events.
In addition to these features, documenting outcomes and planning follow-up actions will be a mandatory process by creating a national children and youth statement, sharing the outcomes with relevant stakeholders, and monitoring the implementation of recommendations. Through these series of processes a persistent youth empowerment is built up around the annual climate conferences.
LCOY Indonesia 2025 is a national youth-led movement designed to empower emerging climate leaders, especially those from underrepresented and marginalized regions. This initiative serves as a platform to amplify the voices of Indonesian youth in global climate negotiations, ensuring they are not only heard but meaningfully included in shaping a just, inclusive, and resilient climate future.
This vision becomes even more urgent and relevant as we approach COP30, a crucial moment to assess global progress on the 1.5°C target, climate finance, and adaptation. At this moment, Indonesian youth must stand at the forefront. Their ideas, experiences, and solutions are essential to driving real impact at both the national and international levels.
Climate Rangers Jakarta as the host of LCOY Indonesia 2025 is committed to ensuring meaningful inclusivity by embedding Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) principles throughout all activities. This includes actively promoting the participation of women, persons with disabilities, Indigenous and marginalized youth, as well as ensuring that every space, physical or virtual, is safe, accessible, and inclusive.
We will strive to ensure that each workshop and event accommodates diverse needs to the greatest extent possible. This includes efforts to provide sign language interpretation, ensure venue accessibility, apply inclusive facilitation methods, and adopt gender-sensitive approaches.

By integrating with broader civil society movements, LCOY ensures inclusive participation, especially from women, Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, and MAPA communities.
